“W-What?!”

“Even if I was, tch, like I’d tell yer shit."

“Eh? An if it so, aah? whas’ it to ya?!”

“W-Wha? Naw, I ain’t! Tch! Got better things ta look at… others who wanna lay wit’ me. He dun wanna? Pft.. "
OutofSea; Well, that’s not entirely a fair comparison. In the verse with Mary, Ning has no idea that ‘James Kidd’ is actually 'Mary Read’. They haven’t slept together at all yet, and so he thinks James is just a young kid with talent that just so happened to get a ship.
Such an opinion may change when he finds out, however, as you need to understand Ning comes from a time where there are very specific gender roles. The world Sheila is in, thats more closer to his time period than in Mary’s.
Even so, both periods still have distinctive roles for women, and neither of them are aboard a ship. Old tales are told that women bring you bad luck when you have them aboard a ship. And old mythology has various stories of sirens and mermaids who help in supporting women bring bad luck, because they bring men to their doom at the bottom of the sea.
Once Ning finds out James is actually Mary, he might start feeling a little… intimidated. Unsure. He might even start questioning his beliefs on the matter. But for now he’s a firm believer that women have kids, have sex and are either proper or whores. Its just ow he lived.
Though in future time periods (like with Gabriella) this sort of belief dies down a notch as Ning has lived quite a long time, and his view points do change.
I hope this has answered your question, and maybe even answered other peoples? Nyyeeh I MADE IT SO LONG.

“Eh! I ain’t a bloody dragon, ya dickhead. Can’t do no transformin’!"

“Ah heh… ya could say tha’.”

“Buh’ I dun like kids.”
OutofSea; Actually, Ning is heterosexual. He has no interest in being romantically involved with men. Sexually? It’s actually a grey area, because HE would tell you he doesn’t have an interest in men.
But as history has told us, men would sleep with other men when they’re trapped on the sea and there are no women around. It was usually given to men who looked young and girlish, normally wouldn’t rise through the ranks (but I need to brush up on this knowledge).
Gan Ning has slept with men who were feminine and young looking, and most times they were killed right after. He will never admit to this knowledge, and doesn’t feel shame for it.
His logic is; a man has needs and everyone has a place.
